Cori Dennhardt's 1st San Fransisco 3-Day Walk
This actually started off as a fitness goal for me. In March of 2000 I joined Weight Watchers to lose weight before my upcoming September 3, 2000 wedding. I was very motivated in that time and lost 20 pounds. However, I knew that after the wedding, it would be all to easy to stop exercising and start eating again.
So I started investing more efforts into exercising. What started off as walking to lose weight slowly turned into running and then started being fun. I began running 5K's and 10K's but felt like I needed to make a deeper commitment. I had heard about the Avon 3-day walk and thought that seemed interesting. I looked it up on the internet and sent off for information. Although I felt I could do the walk, the idea of raising $1900 was very intimidating. However, after talking to previous walkers and breast cancer survivers - I felt motivated and assured that I could do it. I have spoke with many people who have been touched by breast cancer and I'm awed by the opportunity to do something to help. Not only will this be an incredible challenge to myself, but I'm also able to do my part in helping others. A winning combo if there ever was one! |
